Gemrock Peru is a globally spearheading company in the field of ethical mining and production, as well as environmental conservation in the crystal industry. We aspire to do business by doing good. With Gemrock Peru ethics and environmental conservation are not just “marketing gimmicks”. Under the leadership of owner and general manager Stefan Austermühle, a biologist with more than 35 years of career in environmental conservation and sustainable development on three continents, Gemrock Peru is actually doing what we promise.
We have clear rules on ethical mining, sourcing, and production. We are not participating in any illegal or informal business, being so common in our global industry. SEARCHING FOR TREASURE
We are regularly traveling through the coastal deserts of Peru, the Andes, and even the Amazon rainforest in search of Mother Nature’s hidden treasures such as crystal specimens, high-quality minerals, as well as new types of colorful stones and minerals.

We are converting minerals and semi-precious stones into decor, pieces of art, and jewelry. We always strive for great design and the best quality. We are satisfied when our product looks so good that we would rather keep it for ourselves than sell it. Nothing below that makes us feel happy.

Those who trade in stones and jewelry usually share our passion for the beauty of nature. Also, of course, the final consumer buys the products (which have no practical value) for only one reason: they want to enjoy this precious and beautiful object and be happy to own it. In fact, we are in the business of selling happiness. Happy people make the world a better place and we love the fact that our work is contributing to this goal.

WE ARE A LEGALLY ESTABLISHED COMPANY SUPPORTING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR COUNTRY
The crystal trade in Peru and elsewhere is plagued by black labor, a lack of respect for the worker, and pollution of the environment. We are proud of the fact that we are one of the very few formal companies, that create real jobs providing all the labor and social benefits required and that we have managed to develop extraction and production processes that respect nature and reduce the environmental impact to the minimum possible.
HOW WE STARTED
Gemrock Peru S.A.C. was born in 2017 as one of the few legally established Peruvian lapidary workshops in the area of artisanal production of semi-precious stone cabochons for jewelry and decorative products made from stone. From the beginning, it was our goal to produce high-quality products creating real jobs with all labor benefits and achieving environmentally friendly and sustainable production. It was a long learning process combining the existing artisanal empirical knowledge in Peru with modern machinery and processes imported from abroad. We are still learning more every single day. However, in the last five years, Gemrock Peru has managed to become a global wholesaler of ethical products highest-quality level.
In 2020 we implemented a new dimension of our commercial development:
Instead of shrinking we invested: moving to a bigger location, building machines, hiring more staff, stocking up rough stone, joining ranks with a jeweler company and developing new products we used the global COVID shock to transform into Peru´s biggest cutting facility and a global wholesaler of Peruvian decor, jewelry and gemstone products.
2021 a year of growth:
We also expanded our range of products. We are now offering crystal specimen, decor products, home-decor products, jewelry and spiritual products.
In 2022 we focus on the environment:

OUR PRODUCTS

In Peru, the production of jewelry and decoration products based on semi-precious stones has always been a field of so-called artisans. The term “artisans” mistakenly generates a romanticized idea of ancient knowledge being transferred down along generational bloodlines of stonemason mastery.
The reality is quite different: an unfair and abusive production system of poor people working with outdated tools for long hours for marginal payments while creating cheap products of low quality.
Here at Gemrock, we are aspiring to turn the tide. We strive for the highest quality products. In order to achieve this a production system needs two ingredients: modern machines and the best technology as well as well-trained professional staff.
Our staff participates in professional training abroad and when this knowledge cannot be transferred to our minerals in Peru, then we investigate, how to improve our products.
This way and combined with rigorous quality standards, we have managed to produce jewelry with semi-precious stones that can compete without a doubt with the highest quality jewelry worldwide. Our products are characterized by extraordinary polishing without the presence of scratches. The shapes of our products are exact and flawless.
Our decor spheres, for example, are perfectly round, a result that can only be achieved by applying modern technology. More and more foreign companies recognize our quality and send us their stones to Peru to have them cut by us. In fact, Gemrock Peru is the first Peruvian company that not only works with Peruvian stones but also imports stones from all over the world to cut them in Peru.
In 2021 we grew to be a global wholesaler exporting our products to retail shops in Northern America and Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and in Australia.
In 2023, with the launch of this website, we are entering the business of global retail, as an addition to our continued wholesale business.
Also, we do continuously strive to strengthen our position as a spearheading leader in the area of ethical mining, ethical production, and environmental conservation in the crystal industry.
Finally, we are now starting to become a renowned brand in the area of fine mineral specimen trade.
